My Story…
People often ask me what the story is behind my art, or how it was influenced..
To put it simply - my artwork draws from a blend of influences rooted in my life’s path.
As a child, I remember being blown away by the vibrant graphics of late 80s and 90s skateboard art - without doubt the first thing to flip my artistic switch.. I eventually achieved a distinction in Design at Blackpool and the Fylde University Centre in 2001, studying Art, Photography, and Graphics.
After an early career in web design, I spent several years traveling through Cambodia, Nepal, India, Thailand, and Australia - experiences that profoundly shaped my creative direction. The intricate Khmer carvings at Cambodia's Angkor temples, sacred art in Nepal, India, and Thailand, and the traditional Aboriginal techniques I encountered in Australia (specifically dot work) all left a lasting impression on my current artistic approach.
Upon returning to the UK, I moved to Manchester to pursue another major passion in my life - music. Along with four close friends in 2007, I founded the successful electronic music series Zutekh. In the years that followed, I had the privilege of playing music at festivals and clubs across the UK and Europe, deepening my fascination with visual forms within electronic music. Street graffiti, club visuals, and the works of a few select artists within the music scene - all became significant, further layers of influence.
Somewhere along the way, I also developed a profound fascination with the nature of reality, consciousness, and the truth about alien life beyond our planet. My interest in plant medicine and spirituality, along with their connection to the ancient civilisations and artwork I encountered in Asia and Australia, led me to explore psychedelic art of more recent times - a style that touches on the boundaries between our 3D reality and the worlds that lie beyond it - perhaps the most prevalent theme running through my work today.
So, my work is a synthesis of global traditions, personal exploration, and subcultural influences, woven into a textured, vibrant aesthetic that reflects the energy and diversity of my life’s path. The outcome - alien worlds teaming with life, that are playful yet meticulous.
Each piece is brought to life using layers of acrylic paint, where each dot is carefully applied by hand using the traditional Aboriginal dotting technique. These textured compositions combine meticulous detail with spontaneous pours, creating artworks that pulse with energy, rhythm, and vibrant movement.
My aim is to create something that encourages a sense of fun, visual exploration and curiosity, that can add a lively world of colour and shape to any space, where people can take my journey, and find their own stories and interpretations within it.
